Once again, the Maryland Army National Guard has answered the call!
The activities in Washington DC on January 6, 2021, caused an urgent request for assistance, and soldiers from the First Battalion, 175th Infantry Regiment (Fifth Maryland), and the 115th Military Police Battalion answered the call. Approximately 500 soldiers were mobilized and dispatched to Washington DC for security duties.
COL(R) Bruce Kahl provided hand warmers and candy bars to CPT Barreca, 1SG Simmons, SFC Beytha and SGT Rice of the 1-175th Infantry to be provided to the soldiers on duty.
These soldiers are standing guard on wintery cold day both day and night. To show our appreciation to these soldiers the Military Family Relief Fund, Mid-Atlantic stepped up and purchased hand warmers and candy bars for the brave soldiers. These supplies were delivered to them on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. While on that delivery, it was learned that the soldiers needed additional hand warmers, gloves, socks, and personal toiletries. To support that need, MFRFMA purchased additional hand warmers and gloves. In cooperation with the 175th Infantry Regimental Association, warm fresh socks were procured for the troops too. These were delivered to the troops on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
